Dover, DE – Delaware State Police arrested 24-year-old Zoey Hickman of Magnolia after a runaway vehicle incident led to felony assault charges.
Police responded at 3:50 p.m. to an alleged road rage dispute near North Dupont Highway and West Denney’s Road. Before they arrived, Cheswold Police had already detained Hickman.
Authorities said Hickman, driving a Volkswagen Jetta, and a Ford F-150 stopped in traffic after a road rage confrontation. A 73-year-old passenger from the Ford stepped out and stood near Hickman’s Jetta. Hickman also exited but failed to put the Jetta in park.
The vehicle began rolling forward, prompting the elderly woman to jump inside to stop it. Police said Hickman then grabbed the woman and threw her to the ground. EMS transported the victim to a hospital for treatment.
Hickman was charged with second-degree felony assault and driving with a suspended license. She was released on a $10,100 unsecured bond.
