Sam Rubin to receive posthumous Golden Mike Lifetime Achievement Award

Awards season is underway and we can’t help but think about our beloved entertainment anchor Sam Rubin.

He was a founding member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, which created the Critics Choice Awards. On Feb. 7, the 30th Critics Choice Awards honored Sam with a touching photo tribute. As guests walked in, they were welcomed by a warm photo of the man who helped bring the awards ceremony to life.

Sam will also be honored at the upcoming Golden Mike Awards. He’ll receive a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award, organizers announced on Monday morning.

The Golden Mike Awards are presented annually by the nonprofit Radio &
Television News Association, which represents broadcast news professionals in Southern California.

“Rubin was the entertainment anchor at the KTLA Morning News for more than three decades, during which he interviewed virtually every big name in show business,” a media release said.

Sam passed away on May 10, 2024. He was 64 years old.

Other journalists receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award include KNX’s Pete Demetriou, KABC’s Rob Fukuzaki and KNBC’s investigative journalist Joel Grover.

The 75th Annual Golden Mike Awards show will be presented on March 29 at the Lowes Hollywood Hotel.
