San Francisco Resident Faces Charges in Walgreens Store Burglaries

A 24-year-old San Francisco resident, also known as Ashley West, is facing charges linked to a series of commercial burglaries targeting Walgreens stores in the city, according to the announcement made by the San Francisco District Attorney’s office.

On September 28, 2023, Church, whose other alias is Ashley West, was brought before the court and entered a plea of not guilty to multiple charges related to organized retail theft, commercial burglary, and grand theft, as stated by DA Brooke Jenkins’s office.

These charges arise from a sequence of eight retail theft incidents that reportedly occurred between June 10, 2023, and September 4, 2023.

During this time, it is alleged that Church was involved in these incidents, which focused on Walgreens stores.

District Attorney Jenkins stressed the negative impact of organized retail theft on the community, residents, shoppers, and businesses. She highlighted the serious threat posed by serial retail burglars, especially those involved in organized criminal activities, to the well-being of the city and the need for them to be held accountable for their actions.

San Francisco Police took Church into custody peacefully on September 27, 2023.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for October 10, 2023, for a preliminary hearing on this case.

In light of the numerous incidents connected to this case and Church’s involvement in three other ongoing cases in San Francisco, as well as open cases in San Mateo County and Alameda County, both of which have outstanding bench warrants, the District Attorney’s Office sought to detain her until trial. The court approved the request for detention and set no bail for Ms. Church.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information related to these incidents to come forward and cooperate with law enforcement.
