BAKERSFIELD, California — Bakersfield police say that a man who was stabbed on Union Avenue on Sunday afternoon was badly hurt and had to be taken to the hospital.
At around 1:15, a stabbing was reported at the corner of Union Avenue and East 8th Street. A police spokesman said that the man had been stabbed several times and was taken to Kern Medical.
Lt. Jason Townsend of the Bakersfield Police Department said that the stabbing happened outside of a liquor store and that the victim ran away after the stabbing.
Townsend said that the body was found a block away. After the stabbing, a man who might have done it drove away from the area.
Investigators are still at the spot collecting evidence and talking with any witnesses.
