Sinkhole opens in Pacific Palisades burn area following water main break
A sinkhole opened up in the Pacific Palisades burn zone after a water main broke early Wednesday morning.
The incident was reported around 1:30 a.m. when a Los Angeles police officer first noticed a massive amount of water flowing near West Sunset Boulevard and North Las Casas Avenue.
“A short time later, the same patrol unit reported that a sinkhole had formed due to the water main break,” freelance media firm KNN reported.
Video showed fast-moving water flooding the intersection as L.A. Department of Water and Power (DWP) crews worked to stop the flow.
There was no immediate word from DWP officials as to the cause of the break or the size of the pipe involved.
