Slain Compton mother, daughter killed by mom’s ex: LASD

The mother and daughter killed near a Compton school this week were shot by the mother’s ex-boyfriend, according to investigators.

Donte Lamont Brown, 41, is the “estranged boyfriend” of 45-year-old La’von Hall, who died alongside her 22-year-old daughter Ma’Laysia Martin Tuesday night, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

The two were found in and near a vehicle at the intersection of Caldwell Street and South Central Avenue Tuesday evening.

Investigators said Brown drove up alongside the victims’ vehicle as it was at a stoplight and opened fire before fleeing southbound on South Central Avenue.

Hall was able to exit the vehicle before succumbing to her wounds, while Martin was found unresponsive inside the vehicle. Both were declared dead at the scene.

Investigators added that they’ve “exhausted all leads” and are asking for the public’s help in finding Brown, who’s believed to frequent Compton and Long Beach. He’s considered to be armed and dangerous.
