La Crosse, WI – Residents in western Wisconsin should prepare for light snow Friday evening as a weather system sweeps through the region. Minor snow accumulations of less than half an inch are expected, with the heaviest chances north of I-90.

According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, snow will likely begin this afternoon, peaking around 5 p.m. and tapering off by midnight. Motorists traveling on I-90 and surrounding highways are urged to drive cautiously, as slick spots could form during the evening commute. Wind gusts of up to 26 mph may also reduce visibility in areas of heavier snow.

Saturday will bring partly sunny skies with a high near 32°F. Breezy conditions will continue, with southwest winds gusting up to 16 mph. Sunday looks calmer, with sunny skies and a high of 29°F, but temperatures will remain below freezing.

Looking ahead to Monday and Tuesday, the area will warm slightly, with highs reaching 40°F by Monday under mostly sunny skies. However, nighttime lows will drop into the 20s, reminding residents to bundle up and take precautions against freezing temperatures.

Travelers and residents should monitor updates from local authorities and the National Weather Service for changes to the forecast. Plan for slower travel this evening and prepare for colder conditions throughout the weekend.
