Jackson, MS – Central Mississippi may see its first measurable snow of the season Tuesday as a powerful cold front moves through the region. The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts a 30-60% chance of accumulating snow, with the highest impact expected along the I-20 corridor.

Temperatures will drop sharply Sunday night, with lows plunging into the teens. Monday will remain cold, with highs barely reaching the mid-30s. By Tuesday, the cold air will combine with a system bringing precipitation, increasing the likelihood of snow. The NWS warns that slick roads and limited visibility could make travel hazardous, particularly during the morning and evening commutes.

Residents are urged to monitor forecasts closely, stock up on essentials, and avoid unnecessary travel during the snow event. Freezing temperatures are expected to persist through Wednesday, posing additional risks for exposed pipes and outdoor pets.

By midweek, the system will clear, and temperatures will slowly rebound, with highs nearing 40 degrees by Wednesday afternoon. Stay tuned to local weather updates for the latest developments on this potential winter weather event.
