Social Security Benefit Dates in February and March: How to Get Up to $5,108

You’re not alone if you’ve ever been confused by calendars, numbers, and dates while attempting to figure out when your eagerly anticipated Social Security check is due. I’ve put together a really laid-back overview of how payments will operate this month and the following.

Social Security benefits are arranged by the government according to your birthday.

Your birthdate is crucial, indeed. It’s not a math test, so don’t be afraid. In general, the money will arrive later if your birthday is later in the month.

For what reason? I’m not sure, but that’s the way the device is made.

Oh, and the rules are slightly different if you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or mix SSI with regular Social Security. However, we will discuss that later.

The important dates are February and March 2025

Let’s begin with the year’s first two months. Although February is brief (28 days), March is already somewhat longer (31 days). To save you from becoming confused, I’ve left the calendars here:

The rule is straightforward: depending on the day of your birth, your money will arrive on a particular Wednesday. The breakdown is as follows:

  • If your birthday falls between the first and the tenth of the month, it falls on the second Wednesday.
  • If your birthday falls between the 11th and the 20th of the month, it is the third Wednesday.
  • If your day falls between the 21st and the 31st of the month, it is the fourth Wednesday.

As of right now, the payments for the first two groups of February have already been sent, leaving just one for the 26th of next week.

2025 Social Security Age Update: Only Those Born Before This Date Get 100% Retirement

However, the requirements are different if you get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or if you received Social Security benefits prior to May 1997. In your situation:

  • The first of the month is when SSI is paid.
  • The third of the month is when traditional Social Security is paid out.

Additionally, you will get two payments if you receive both: one on the first and another on the third. Naturally, the payment is rescheduled to the prior business day if the first or third falls on a weekend or holiday. Don’t wait till Monday.

Social Security Administration publishes all of this information

In January 2005, Publication No. 05-10031 was revised. It may sound outdated, yet it’s still applicable today. We all pay for this through our taxes, so it’s best to take use of it, but be careful.

In 2025, the maximum Social Security retirement benefit is $5,108. Individuals will receive $967, couples will receive $1,450, while essential helpers will receive $484.
