Sony Honda EV puts movies on the dashboard

Get ready for your car to have even more personality.

Recently, I checked out AFEELA, a new EV from Sony and Honda.

It’s half car, half entertainment hub – and yes, it’s real.

Right now it’s on display at a pop-up shop at Westfield Century City.

Reps told me it’s not a concept vehicle—it’s a production prototype that will launch next year.

AFEELA is loaded with smart driving tech. It includes 40 sensors, including 18 cameras, 9 radars, 1 lidar, and 12 ultrasonic sensors.

Even the doors are smart – just one push of a button and they open for you.

Once inside, screens are everywhere – a widescreen dashboard up front, dual rear screens for passengers, and even digital side and rearview mirrors.

About that personality? There’s an “AFEELLA personal agent” ready to be your driving sidekick. Hope you like AI in your car!

The system supports lots of apps, including music, movies, and even games.

You can even connect remotely to your PlayStation 4 or 5 and play it live inside the car.

Of course, you might be wondering about driver distraction. Sony & Honda have put polarizing glass into the dashboard – similar to those iPhone privacy glass screen protectors – from an angle, the driver can’t see what passengers are watching while the car is in motion.

Finally, there’s one more way you can express yourself – AFEELA has a media bar on the front bumper. This is a digital display you can put custom messages on for the world to see.

Afeela is expected to get around 300 miles on a charge, starting at $90,000, with deliveries next year starting in California. If you want to reserve one, a refundable $200 deposit holds your spot.
