Spartanburg, SC – Residents in Spartanburg and across South Carolina can expect sunny conditions early this week before an arctic chill arrives late January, potentially bringing hazardous weather. The National Weather Service warns of significantly colder temperatures by the weekend, urging residents to monitor updates for possible winter storm developments.

According to the National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg, today and Tuesday will feature clear skies and highs near 50°F, with lows dropping to the mid-20s overnight. A calm wind is expected to shift northwest by Tuesday afternoon, holding conditions pleasant but chilly.

As the week progresses, highs will hover in the upper 40s to low 50s, with abundant sunshine through Friday. Nights will bring colder temperatures, dipping as low as 22°F on Wednesday. By Friday night, a chance of showers moves into the area, with rainfall becoming likely Saturday and lingering into Sunday.

Long-term forecasts indicate a sharp dip in temperatures across the Western Carolinas beginning January 18. The arctic front could bring widespread frigid air and a risk of winter precipitation. While details remain uncertain, officials recommend preparing now by securing supplies and staying informed.

Drivers on major roadways like Interstate 26 and U.S. Highway 29 should anticipate potential delays and slick conditions if wintry weather develops.

For now, enjoy the sunny start to the week and check back for updates as weather patterns evolve.
