Spartanburg, SC – Residents across South Carolina are bracing for plunging temperatures tonight as lows drop into the mid-20s. Clear skies and calm winds will create prime conditions for freezing temperatures overnight, with more frigid air expected later this week.

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, tonight’s temperatures will range from 25°F to 30°F across the region, with the I-85 corridor seeing some of the coldest conditions. Thursday will bring sunshine, but highs will only reach the mid-40s, keeping the area chilly.

As the week progresses, an arctic air mass is forecast to arrive Sunday night, driving temperatures even lower and pushing wind chills well below freezing. Friday remains dry and sunny with highs in the low 50s, but rain is expected to develop Saturday afternoon, bringing a 100% chance of precipitation.

The colder air will continue into the start of next week, with highs on Martin Luther King Jr. Day barely reaching 38°F. Monday night’s lows could dip into the upper teens, prompting concerns about frozen pipes and road conditions. Residents should wrap exposed pipes, check heating systems, and use caution while traveling early in the mornings.

The National Weather Service is monitoring the potential for wintry precipitation early next week, but forecasts remain uncertain. Stay updated on conditions through local weather alerts and plan for freezing mornings through Tuesday.
