Aberdeen, SD – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for northeast South Dakota and west-central Minnesota, with 6 to 10 inches of snow possible from Friday evening through Saturday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Aberdeen, heavy snow is expected to impact areas including Aberdeen, Watertown, Sisseton, Milbank, and Ortonville, MN. A separate Winter Storm Watch is in effect for north-central South Dakota, including Mobridge, Ipswich, and Gettysburg, from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning, with 5 to 8 inches of snowfall anticipated.
Travel on major routes such as Interstates 29 and 90 and Highways 12 and 281 may become hazardous due to low visibility and snow accumulation. Drivers should plan ahead and allow extra time for commutes, particularly on Friday evening and Saturday morning.
