Southern California restaurant tops Yelp’s ‘100 Places to Eat in 2025’ list
LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – One Southern California restaurant took the top spot on Yelp’s annual Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S. list.
Holbox, a Mexican seafood restaurant located in South Los Angeles, was named the best place to eat in the U.S.
“Known for its fresh Mexican seafood, Holbox offers grilled octopus, fish tacos, and a variety of ceviches, all crafted by Michelin-starred Chef and Owner Gilberto Cetina,” a news release said. “The restaurant boasts 1,000-plus 5-star reviews and Yelp users rave about the vibrant flavors, affordability, and eco-friendly practices that make Holbox a standout.
Yelp said its data science team analyzed user submissions to determine the top restaurants based on ratings, number of reviews, and volume of submissions.
“This year’s Top 100 Places to Eat list highlights diverse culinary treasures from coast-to-coast,” Tara Lewis, Yelp’s Trend Expert, said in a statement. “From Michelin-starred hot spots in California to coastal-inspired neighborhood gems in Missouri, the restaurants on this year’s list represent the creativity of chefs making extraordinary dishes in unexpected settings, and the community of users that brings these local favorites to light.”
Other California restaurants named on the list include Wally’s Café, a Middle Eastern restaurant in Rocklin; Phonomenal, a Cambodian-style pho spot in National City; and the Good Salad in Santa Clara.
