Lake Charles, LA – A developing weather system is set to bring widespread rain and thunderstorms to southern Louisiana starting Wednesday, continuing into Friday.
The National Weather Service forecasts heavy rainfall across the region, with the greatest impact expected Thursday evening into Friday morning. Rain totals may exceed two inches in isolated areas, increasing the risk of flash flooding in low-lying and poorly drained neighborhoods. Thunderstorms could also bring gusty winds and hazardous driving conditions along major highways, including I-10.
According to the National Weather Service, rain chances will begin to rise late Wednesday, peaking at 70% Thursday. Flooding risks may escalate where heavy downpours occur repeatedly. Residents are advised to clear storm drains, secure outdoor furniture, and avoid driving through flooded roadways.
The storm system is expected to move out by Friday night, making way for clearer skies and calmer conditions over the weekend. Saturday and Sunday will bring sunny weather with highs near 70°F, offering a welcome break from the rain-soaked week.
