Suspect opens fire on Los Angeles police helicopter
Los Angeles police converged on a residential area of Chatsworth Friday afternoon on reports of an assault where the suspect also allegedly fired shots at a police helicopter.
The incident began at about 2:20 p.m. when officers responded to a home in the 20000 block of Tipico Street for an assault with a deadly weapon. When officers arrived on the ground and in the air, LAPD said the suspect fired shots at a police airship.
No injuries or damage to the helicopter were reported.
Officers created a perimeter around the home and blocked several roads.
Sky5 footage showed the suspect lying face down next to a pool in the backyard with two firearms atop a table next to him. Officers had not moved in to arrest him as of 3:45 p.m.
