Teen e-bike rider hospitalized in wrong-way Rancho Cucamonga crash

A teen riding an e-bike was hospitalized following a wrong-way crash in Rancho Cucamonga Tuesday.

Rancho Cucamonga police responded to the crash at the intersection of Wardman Bullock Road and San Angelo Drive at around 8:35 a.m

The electric bike rider, identified only as a 16-year-old juvenile, was traveling on the wrong side of the road when a male driver in a van suddenly spotted the oncoming cyclist.

The driver swerved to avoid colliding with the teen but at the same time, the teen also swerved in the same direction and crashed into the van, police said.

The 16-year-old was ejected into the air and over the van before landing on the road.

The injured teen was transported to a local hospital where they remain in stable condition. 

The van driver was uninjured. No further details, including the teen’s identity, were released. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
