Teens riding scooter hospitalized in wrong-way Orange County crash
Two teenagers riding a scooter were hospitalized in critical condition after a wrong-way crash in Orange Tuesday night.
The teens were riding on a single motorized scooter and traveling on the wrong side of the road on Hewes Street, the Orange Police Department said.
At around 2:05 p.m., the scooter collided with the front passenger side of an oncoming Tesla Model Y near Hewes Street and Via Lardo Avenue.
The teens, who were not wearing helmets at the time, were critically injured by the impact.
They were transported to a local hospital where they remained in critical condition on Tuesday night.
Sky5 footage of the scene showed police tape cordoning off a large section of a residential street near the crash site.
The Tesla driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police said neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash for the driver.
No further details on the case, including the teens’ ages or identities, were released as the incident remains under investigation.
