Shreveport, LA – An Arctic blast will bring dangerously cold wind chills to parts of the South overnight, with warnings in effect until 8 a.m. Sunday. Temperatures as low as 10 to 15 degrees are expected across northeast Texas, northwest Louisiana, southwest Arkansas, and southeast Oklahoma.
According to the National Weather Service, a cold weather advisory covers areas along the I-30 and I-20 corridors. Cities like Texarkana, Shreveport, and El Dorado will experience the harshest conditions. Wind chills could lead to hypothermia for anyone exposed for prolonged periods.
Residents are urged to take precautions. Officials recommend wearing insulated clothing, hats, and gloves when venturing outside. Portable heaters should be used carefully to prevent fire hazards, and outdoor generators or grills should never be used indoors.
Pet owners are advised to keep animals inside during the advisory. Additionally, checking on vulnerable individuals, such as elderly neighbors, is strongly encouraged.
The cold weather is expected to ease after sunrise on Sunday, but residents should remain cautious overnight.
