San Angelo, TX – Warmer weather will grace San Angelo this week, but an arctic cold front will soon change the story. By Friday night, temperatures are expected to plunge as cold air sweeps through West Texas.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), San Angelo will enjoy mild highs near 70 degrees on Friday before the front arrives late that evening. Overnight temperatures will drop into the 30s, with daytime highs Sunday and Monday struggling to reach the 40s. The bitter cold could bring overnight lows into the teens early next week, creating hazardous conditions for exposed pipes, plants, and pets.
No precipitation is expected, but residents are advised to take precautions now. Ensure outdoor plumbing is insulated, stock up on cold-weather supplies, and avoid prolonged exposure outdoors.
The five-day forecast reveals a significant temperature swing. Wednesday and Thursday will be mostly sunny, with highs in the low 50s and lows near freezing. By Friday, gusty southwest winds will bring warmer air ahead of the cold front, pushing temperatures into the 70s during the day.
The real chill sets in by Saturday morning, with highs dropping to the 50s. Sunday and Monday will be colder still, with lows bottoming out in the teens to low 20s.
