Austin, TX – A line of thunderstorms is set to impact central Texas early Thursday, bringing heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds. Isolated strong storms could develop, increasing the risk of flash flooding in low-lying areas.
According to the National Weather Service, showers will linger through the morning before clearing in the afternoon. Highs will reach the mid-70s with decreasing humidity. Sunshine returns Friday, lasting through the weekend, with highs in the mid-to-upper 70s.
Drivers along I-35 and US-290 should prepare for wet roads and reduced visibility Thursday morning. Rainfall totals could range from half an inch to one inch in some areas.
Looking ahead, Monday could bring record-high temperatures near 80°F before another system increases cloud cover Tuesday. Overnight lows will hover in the mid-40s to upper 50s throughout the five-day period.
