Lubbock, TX – The Texas Panhandle is enjoying a brief warming trend, with sunny skies and highs near 60 degrees expected Friday. The milder daytime conditions will be accompanied by cooler nighttime lows, dipping to the mid-30s.

According to the National Weather Service, winds will remain light on Friday, shifting southwest at 5 to 10 mph in the evening. The pleasant weather continues into Saturday, with temperatures climbing to a high of 65 degrees. However, residents should prepare for breezy conditions, with wind gusts reaching up to 35 mph, accompanied by patchy blowing dust after 9 a.m.

Saturday night will bring colder air back to the region, with a low near 27 degrees. By Sunday, temperatures are expected to drop further, with highs near 31 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Sunday night will be chilly, with lows in the low teens and light southeast winds.

Looking ahead to Martin Luther King Day, a slight chance of snow showers is in the forecast before noon. Highs will only reach 28 degrees, making for a much colder start to the week. Conditions will remain mostly sunny for the rest of Monday, with nighttime lows dropping into the teens.

Residents planning outdoor activities are advised to take advantage of Friday’s and Saturday’s warmer temperatures before colder weather sets in Sunday and Monday. Those traveling on Saturday should be mindful of the potential for reduced visibility due to blowing dust.

Temperatures will gradually rise into the low 30s by midweek, with mostly sunny conditions persisting. Stay tuned for updates on the forecast as the potential for snow develops early next week.
