Texas Panhandle Winter Weather Alert: Snow and Ice Expected Through Wednesday

Amarillo, TX – A winter weather advisory has been issued for the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles, with snow and ice expected to create hazardous conditions through Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, the advisory is in effect from midnight Monday until noon Wednesday. Snow accumulations of one to two inches are forecast for the northern Panhandles on Wednesday, while ice accumulation between 0.01 and 0.05 inches is possible on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Road conditions could become slippery, impacting both the morning and evening commutes. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously and check road conditions before traveling. Texas travelers can call 800-452-9292 for updates, while Oklahoma drivers can dial 844-465-4997.

With temperatures hovering near freezing, precipitation types may change throughout the event, increasing travel risks. Residents should prepare for icy roads and possible delays.
