Houston, TX – Rainfall is expected to dominate much of the week in the Houston area, with thunderstorms likely by midweek. Residents should plan for potential localized flooding and travel disruptions along I-45 and other key roadways.

According to the National Weather Service, light rain will taper off today, leaving cloudy skies with highs near 60 degrees. A few coastal showers are expected tonight, with temperatures dropping to the low 50s. The best chance for widespread rain and thunderstorms arrives Wednesday afternoon into Thursday as a cold front moves through the region.

Heavy rain between 1 to 3 inches is possible, with some areas potentially receiving even higher totals. This could lead to localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas. Storms may bring strong winds and the possibility of isolated severe weather, including hail and brief tornadoes.

Drivers should use caution during commutes and avoid water-covered roadways. Stay updated with the latest weather advisories and plan ahead for wet conditions. By Friday, drier and sunnier weather is forecast, with temperatures climbing near 70 degrees.

For the rest of the week, expect highs in the 50s and 60s, with continued storm chances into Thursday night.
