Over the weekend, the California Highway Patrol issued a statement regarding a tragic traffic accident that occurred late last week.
According to the report, the incident occurred at 8:10 pm on Thursday when a 33-year-old resident of Bakersfield was driving her black Cadillac in the westbound direction on Route 58, just east of Parkhill Road.
The exact speed at which the Cadillac was traveling remains unknown. For reasons that are currently under investigation, the Cadillac veered off the southern edge of the roadway and overturned, tumbling down a steep embankment.
Tragically, the driver sustained fatal injuries as a result of the accident. In addition, a 10-year-old female juvenile who was a passenger in the Cadillac suffered minor injuries.
The California Highway Patrol is actively conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this collision. At this time, it is unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident. Further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
