Transient on the run after killing father in Monrovia: L.A. Sheriff’s Department

Authorities are asking the public for help Wednesday in their search for a Los Angeles County area transient suspected of murdering his own father in Monrovia late last month.

Deputies found the victim, who was not identified, dead inside his apartment on the 100 block of West Olive Avenue on Feb. 22, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.

“Homicide detectives identified Arturo Gonzalez Jr. as the suspect in the murder,” the Sheriff’s Department stated. “Gonzales is the son of the victim.”

Authorities said that 29-year-old Gonazalez Jr. is believed to be a transient who frequently uses public transportation, including the Metrolink train system.

Gonazalez Jr. has been seen in the Long Beach, Lakewood, Hawaiian Gardens and Norwalk areas in the days following the slaying.

“He is also known to frequent Pasadena and Altadena areas,” the Sheriff’s Department said.
