Cincinnati, OH – A silent danger may be lurking in your pet’s food bowl. Blue Ridge Beef has recalled 5,700 pounds of its 2-pound log Natural Mix pet food due to Salmonella contamination. The affected lot number is N25/12/31, with UPC 854298001054. The FDA is monitoring the recall.

According to the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, samples collected on January 8 tested positive for Salmonella. The FDA confirmed the results on January 27. The recalled products were distributed between January 3 and January 24 across multiple states, including Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.

The real concern? Infected pets might not show obvious symptoms. Some experience lethargy, fever, or vomiting, while others seem normal but still spread bacteria. Even handling contaminated pet food can put owners at risk. Symptoms in humans include nausea, diarrhea, and fever—sometimes leading to severe complications.

Could this be in your home? Check your pet’s food now. Consumers should return or dispose of the product immediately. Wash all bowls, cups, and containers to prevent contamination.
