Valentine’s Weekend Weather in Minnesota: Bitter Cold and Snow Expected in Duluth, Twin Ports Region

Duluth, MN – A brutal cold snap continues across northern Minnesota, with wind chills as low as -35°F through Wednesday morning. Residents are urged to limit outdoor exposure, as frostbite can occur in just 10 minutes.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Duluth, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday, affecting multiple counties, including St. Louis, Cook, and Carlton. Temperatures will remain well below average, with lows dipping to -13°F tonight.

Thursday will bring some relief, with highs reaching 9°F under sunny skies. However, another round of bitter cold is expected Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with lows around -7°F. Wind chills could again fall to -30°F.

By Friday, a snow system will move in, bringing 1 to 3 inches of accumulation along the I-35 corridor into the Twin Ports. Gusty winds up to 20 mph may create hazardous travel conditions.

Looking ahead to Valentine’s Weekend, Saturday will stay cold, with highs near 16°F, while Sunday will bring another round of blustery conditions. Travelers should monitor forecasts and dress appropriately for the extreme cold.
