Blacksburg, VA – A wet weekend is expected across Virginia, with steady rain and pockets of freezing rain forecast through Sunday evening. Residents should prepare for heavy rainfall, with 1 to 2 inches possible across the region, prompting a Flood Watch until Sunday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, light freezing rain could impact higher elevations along and west of the Blue Ridge early Saturday, with up to 0.10 inches of ice possible north of I-64 before changing to all rain by evening. The heaviest rainfall is expected late Saturday through Sunday, increasing flood risks, especially along and northwest of I-81.

Residents in cities like Blacksburg, Wytheville, and Roanoke should stay cautious of flooded roads and rising water levels. The NWS advises using caution while traveling and securing property in flood-prone areas. Rainfall totals could exceed 2 inches in localized areas, with minor flooding possible in low-lying regions.

The Flood Watch remains in effect until Sunday evening. Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates from the National Weather Service and take necessary precautions throughout the weekend.
