Campbellsburg, IN – A Campbellsburg man was arrested Thursday morning on multiple felony charges after allegedly striking another man in the head with a handgun during an altercation last year.

According to the Indiana State Police (ISP) in Sellersburg, detectives took 39-year-old Gerald P. Hamilton into custody following an investigation that began in September 2024. Authorities say Hamilton allegedly pistol-whipped a man outside his residence and then pointed the firearm at the man’s girlfriend, who witnessed the incident.

Investigators conducted interviews and subpoenaed Hamilton’s social media accounts, where he allegedly made statements regarding the incident. Following their findings, the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office issued an arrest warrant on Wednesday, February 5, charging Hamilton with battery by means of a deadly weapon (Level 5 felony), intimidation (Level 5 felony), and pointing a firearm (Level 6 felony).

Hamilton was arrested at his residence without incident and transported to the Washington County Jail, where he is being held without bond pending a court appearance.

“All subjects are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court,” authorities stated.
