Indianapolis, IN – Ice accumulation is expected to impact areas along and north of the I-70 corridor in Indiana on Wednesday afternoon and evening, potentially creating hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service Indianapolis, ice accumulations between 0.10 and 0.25 inches are expected from Rockville to Fishers to Winchester, extending north and west to the Upper Wabash River. Minor snowfall between 1 to 3 inches is also forecast near Lafayette and surrounding areas.

Officials warn that icy roads and slick conditions could lead to travel delays and dangerous driving conditions. Residents are advised to use caution on untreated roads and bridges, which may become particularly hazardous.

The wintry mix comes as temperatures hover near freezing, making ice formation more likely. Drivers should monitor updates from the Indiana Department of Transportation for road conditions and potential closures.

Authorities recommend preparing for icy conditions by allowing extra travel time, keeping emergency kits in vehicles, and avoiding unnecessary travel during peak impact hours. The winter weather is expected to clear by late Wednesday night.
