Chicago, IL – Residents across Illinois should prepare for snow and dropping temperatures beginning Friday evening, creating potentially hazardous conditions for drivers. The National Weather Service predicts intermittent flurries Friday night, transitioning to a 20% chance of snow showers early Saturday.

According to the NWS, the snow could create slick roads, including major highways like I-55 and I-90. Low temperatures Friday night are expected to reach 20°F, with wind chills dipping into the single digits. Drivers should exercise caution, as gusts could reach 25 mph, reducing visibility.

By Saturday, skies will clear, offering partly sunny conditions but maintaining chilly temperatures, with highs near 36°F. Southwest winds will persist, gusting up to 25 mph. Saturday night will bring lows around 17°F, accompanied by brisk winds.

Sunday will offer a brief reprieve, with sunny skies and highs near 28°F. However, Monday ushers in a new round of challenges, with highs reaching 40°F but accompanied by strong breezes. Gusts on Monday could exceed 30 mph, potentially impacting travel and outdoor activities.

Residents should ensure vehicles are winter-ready, including having an emergency kit. Keep an eye on weather updates, as conditions can shift quickly.
