Charleston, WV – An ice storm warning remains in effect until 4 AM EST Thursday for Pocahontas and Southeast Randolph counties. Significant ice accumulation of up to three-tenths of an inch is expected, creating hazardous conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, roads, bridges, and overpasses will become slick and dangerous. Travel could be nearly impossible, especially during the evening and morning commutes. Ice accumulation on power lines and trees may cause widespread power outages.
Residents in Snowshoe, Harman, and Marlinton should avoid travel if possible. Those who must drive should carry an emergency kit with a flashlight, food, and water. Power outages could last for extended periods, so preparing with extra supplies is essential.
Authorities urge residents to stay informed through official weather updates. For the latest road conditions, call 511 or check state transportation websites.
