West Virginia Winter Storm Warning: Heavy Snow and Ice Expected in Tucker County

Tucker County, WV – A major winter storm will bring heavy snow and significant ice accumulation to Eastern Tucker County from Tuesday morning through late Wednesday night, potentially making travel hazardous.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pittsburgh, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday until 4 a.m. Wednesday, with 5 to 8 inches of snow expected and a light glaze of ice possible. A Winter Storm Watchfollows from Wednesday afternoon through late Wednesday night, with up to two-tenths of an inch of ice possible.

Travel conditions will deteriorate rapidly, with slippery roads and dangerous commutes Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. The heaviest snowfall is expected Tuesday into Tuesday night, with freezing rain developing early Wednesday. The second storm system could worsen conditions with additional mixed precipitation and ice accumulation Wednesday afternoon into early Thursday.
