Clarksburg, WV – A winter weather advisory has been issued for much of West Virginia, warning of accumulating snow and hazardous road conditions beginning Thursday morning.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Charleston, the advisory will remain in effect from 7 a.m. Thursday through 7 a.m. Friday. Residents in central, northern, and southeastern parts of the state, including Clarksburg, Bridgeport, and Fayetteville, can expect snow accumulations between 2 to 4 inches.
The NWS cautions that slippery roads could make travel dangerous, especially during the Thursday morning and evening commutes. Drivers are urged to reduce speeds, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, and prepare for potential delays.
Additionally, a similar advisory has been issued for parts of eastern Ohio, western Pennsylvania, and northern West Virginia, including the cities of Morgantown, Weirton, and Wheeling. The Pittsburgh branch of the NWS forecasts snow totals of 1 to 3 inches in those areas, with localized higher amounts possible. This advisory will take effect from 4 a.m. Thursday and remain active until 4 a.m. Friday.
Temperatures during the advisory period are expected to hover in the mid-20s, contributing to icy conditions on untreated surfaces.
To stay updated on the latest weather developments and road conditions, residents can call 511 or visit online traffic portals for their region. For snow and ice reports, residents are encouraged to contact local NWS offices or use their social media platforms.
