Baltimore, MD – A cold weather advisory has been issued for parts of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Thursday. Residents are warned to prepare for dangerously low temperatures, with wind chills expected to reach as low as -10°F.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory affects Garrett County in Maryland, Highland County in Virginia, and Grant and Pendleton Counties in West Virginia. Cities such as Oakland, Monterey, and Franklin are expected to experience the harshest conditions.

The frigid temperatures pose risks of hypothermia for those exposed to the cold without proper precautions. Officials urge residents to dress in layers, wear hats and gloves, and limit time outdoors.

Travelers in affected areas should take extra care, as exposure to the cold can be hazardous. Additionally, ensure pets are brought inside and check on vulnerable neighbors during this time.

The extreme cold warning initially issued for the region has been canceled, but the advisory remains in place. Temperatures are expected to improve slightly after Thursday morning.
