Mount Holly, NJ – A winter storm continues to impact northern and central New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania, bringing heavy snowfall and hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, an additional 4 to 6 inches of snow is expected before the warning expires at 1 a.m. Monday. Winds could gust up to 35 mph, creating areas of blowing snow and reducing visibility.
Affected areas include Sussex, Warren, and Mercer counties in New Jersey, as well as Carbon, Monroe, and Northampton counties in Pennsylvania. Snowfall rates may reach 1 inch per hour this afternoon and evening, making roads, bridges, and overpasses especially treacherous.
Temperatures are forecast to drop into the teens overnight and remain below freezing for several days. This will likely prolong icy and slippery conditions even after the snowfall ends.
Travelers are urged to use extreme caution. If travel is necessary, keep emergency supplies in your vehicle, including food, water, and a flashlight. Road conditions can be monitored by dialing 511.
Residents should plan for delays, slippery roads, and reduced visibility throughout the evening hours.
