Winter Storm Warning: 6 to 9 Inches of Snow Expected Across Northeast by Monday Morning

New York, NY – A winter storm warning has been issued for parts of New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Vermont, beginning Sunday afternoon. Heavy snow is expected to make travel hazardous across the region.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will begin around 1 p.m. Sunday and intensify through the afternoon, with rates of up to 1 inch per hour. The storm is projected to bring between 6 and 9 inches of snow before tapering off by 7 a.m. Monday. Impacted areas include the mid-Hudson Valley, eastern Catskills, central and southern Taconics, and the Rensselaer Plateau.

Road conditions will deteriorate rapidly, particularly on bridges and overpasses, which are likely to become slick and icy. Officials are urging caution for those who must travel and recommending emergency preparedness. Drivers should carry essentials such as flashlights, food, and water in their vehicles.

Residents are also advised to be cautious on outdoor surfaces like stairs and sidewalks, as they could become dangerously slippery.
