New York, NY – A winter storm warning is in effect from 1 p.m. Sunday until 4 a.m. Monday for southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey, and southeast New York.
Heavy snow is expected, with accumulations ranging between 5 and 7 inches. According to the National Weather Service, roads, bridges, and overpasses will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel conditions could be dangerous across the affected areas.
The storm is expected to intensify Sunday afternoon, with snowfall rates increasing by evening. Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel. If travel is required, keep emergency supplies such as a flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle.
The most impacted areas include northern Fairfield, northern New Haven, and northern Middlesex counties in Connecticut. In New Jersey, regions like western Bergen and western Essex counties are under the warning. New York counties including Orange, Putnam, and Rockland should also prepare for hazardous conditions.
