Allentown, PA – A winter storm warning remains in effect for eastern Pennsylvania, including Lehigh, Berks, and Bucks counties, until 1 a.m. Monday. Heavy snow is expected to bring an additional 3 to 5 inches of accumulation, with snowfall rates reaching one inch per hour this evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ, the storm is creating hazardous travel conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses. Blowing snow may significantly reduce visibility, while temperatures are forecast to drop into the teens overnight, causing icy and slippery roads to persist even after the snow ends.
Residents are urged to exercise caution, as conditions may remain treacherous for several days. The warning covers cities like Allentown, Reading, and West Chester, where drivers are advised to prepare for emergency situations by keeping flashlights, food, and water in their vehicles.
Travelers should monitor local updates and check road conditions by calling 511. With temperatures unlikely to rise above freezing this week, delays in cleanup efforts and ongoing icy conditions are anticipated.
