Hamtramck, MI – Residents in the Detroit area should prepare for snow overnight Friday into Saturday, with challenging travel conditions expected by morning. The National Weather Service predicts snow starting after 3 a.m., with accumulation of up to half an inch possible.

Drivers along I-75 and surrounding roadways should exercise caution as slick conditions and reduced visibility are likely. According to the forecast, gusty southwest winds could exacerbate the situation, creating blowing snow and icy patches on Saturday morning.

Temperatures will remain cold, with highs near 29°F on Saturday, accompanied by wind gusts reaching 23 mph. Snow chances taper off into the evening, leaving behind partly cloudy skies and a low near 22°F.

Looking ahead, Sunday promises a break from the wintry weather with mostly sunny skies and highs around 27°F, though gusts could still reach 20 mph. Monday brings warmer temperatures, peaking at 34°F with breezy conditions, followed by partly cloudy skies into Tuesday.

Residents are advised to stay updated on the latest road and weather conditions and allow extra travel time this weekend. For those commuting early Saturday, ensure vehicles are winter-ready and clear of snow.
