Detroit, MI – A winter storm is set to bring heavy snowfall to southeastern Michigan, with up to 8 inches expected by Thursday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Huron, Macomb, Sanilac, and St. Clair Counties, beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday and lasting until 7 a.m. Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, snow will intensify during the late afternoon and evening hours, with peak snowfall rates exceeding one inch per hour possible between 4 p.m. and 2 a.m. The storm is expected to create dangerous travel conditions, impacting both the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.
Drivers are urged to use caution, as roads could become snow-covered and slippery. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) advises travelers to check the Michigan Drive Map for updated road conditions. If travel is necessary, motorists should carry emergency supplies, including a flashlight, food, and water.
The storm marks one of the season’s heaviest snowfalls in the region. Residents should prepare for delays and disruptions as crews work to clear the roads.
