Duluth, MN – A snow squall warning has been issued for parts of northwestern Wisconsin, including Ashland, Bayfield, and Douglas counties, as intense bursts of snow create hazardous conditions. The National Weather Service in Duluth issued the alert at 11:16 a.m., effective until noon CST Wednesday.
According to radar data, the snow squall was located along a line from 10 miles north of Ino to near Iron River and Poplar, moving southeast at 10 mph. Gusty winds up to 35 mph are causing blowing snow and rapidly decreasing visibility, making travel dangerous.
Communities impacted include Superior, Ashland, Iron River, Lake Nebagamon, and Amnicon Falls State Park, among others. Drivers should expect sudden whiteout conditions and icy roads, significantly reducing safety.
The National Weather Service advises motorists to slow down and remain alert for abrupt visibility changes and treacherous road conditions. Travelers should delay non-essential trips until the squall has passed.
This snow squall warning highlights the dangers of severe winter weather in the region, where rapid changes in conditions are common. Stay tuned to local weather updates and follow safety precautions to minimize risks during this period.
