Wisconsin Snow Squall Warning Issued: Hazardous Travel Expected

Duluth, MN – The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a Snow Squall Warning for several counties in northwestern and north-central Wisconsin, effective until 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The warning affects southern portions of Iron, Washburn, Ashland, Burnett, Sawyer, and Price counties. At 3 p.m., radar detected a dangerous snow squall along a line extending from 9 miles south of Gile to near Winter and Luck, moving southeast at 15 mph.

According to the NWS, the squall is producing intense bursts of heavy snow, gusty winds up to 20 mph, and blowing snow. These conditions could cause whiteouts and rapid drops in visibility, making travel hazardous.

Residents in affected areas are urged to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel. Rapid changes in road conditions are possible. Drivers should slow down and prepare for sudden visibility reductions.

The squall is primarily impacting rural areas of the listed counties. The NWS advises remaining alert to weather updates and adhering to safety precautions.
