Wisconsin Weather Alert: Light Snow to Impact Morning Commute Through Thursday

Green Bay, WI – A light snow event is expected to move across Wisconsin starting late Tuesday night into early Wednesday, bringing minor accumulations but potentially hazardous conditions for commuters.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay, snowfall amounts will generally range from a dusting to 1 inch across the state. Areas in far north-central Wisconsin, including Vilas County, may see slightly higher totals due to lake effect snow. Snowfall is forecast to taper off by early Thursday morning.

While the expected totals are modest, the timing of the snowfall aligns with Wednesday morning’s commute. The NWS warns that even light snow can create slippery conditions on roads. Drivers should exercise caution, reduce speeds, and allow extra time for travel.

Key areas such as Green Bay, Appleton, and Wausau should anticipate accumulations of less than an inch, with potential for higher amounts northward. The snow is expected to gradually taper off Wednesday evening, with lingering effects in lake-effect regions overnight.

Residents are advised to remain alert for slick surfaces, especially on untreated roads and sidewalks, and to monitor weather updates as conditions develop.
