Woodford County, IL – A single-unit crash involving a tractor-trailer has disrupted traffic on westbound Interstate 74. The accident occurred near the Mackinaw Dells Rest Stop at milepost 115, close to Congerville. Authorities have reported no injuries.
Illinois State Police (ISP) Troop 4 responded to the scene and confirmed the westbound lanes of I-74 are closed. Traffic is being rerouted onto Interstate 74 at Carlock near milepost 120.
ISP advised drivers to expect extended delays as crews work to clear the area. The cause of the crash has not yet been disclosed.
Westbound motorists traveling in this area are urged to seek alternate routes. Congestion and traffic backups have already begun, and detour routes may experience additional delays.
Drivers are reminded to exercise caution when traveling through detour routes and areas with increased congestion. ISP officers remain on-site to ensure safety and assist with the ongoing traffic diversion.
