2 Idaho Teens Linked to Polygamist Group Missing, Amber Alert Issued

Idaho officials are actively searching for two missing teenagers, Allen Larand Fischer (13) and Rachelle Leray Fischer (15), who were last seen on Sunday in Monteview, Idaho. The teens are believed to have left Monteview and may have returned to Trenton, Utah, where they previously lived.

Details of the Disappearance:

  • Time of disappearance: Between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2023
  • Location: Monteview, Idaho
  • Possible destination: Trenton, Utah
  • Amber Alert issued: Yes, by Idaho State Police

Descriptions of the Missing Teens:

Allen Fischer:

  • Age: 13
  • Height: 5’9”
  • Weight: 135 pounds
  • Hair: Sandy blonde, longer length
  • Eyes: Blue
  • Clothing: Blue shirt, blue jeans

Rachelle Fischer:

  • Age: 15
  • Height: 5’5”
  • Weight: 135 pounds
  • Hair: Brown
  • Eyes: Blue

Background and Concerns:

The teens’ mother, Elizabeth Roundy, who was once part of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS) but was exiled in 2020, is desperately searching for her children.

She believes that members of the FLDS, including older siblings, were involved in the abduction of Allen and Rachelle.

Roundy shared that the teens were last seen leaving to use the internet at a local shop before disappearing. She believes their abduction was planned by people associated with the FLDS, and she has seen vehicles linked to the group in the area recently.

The FLDS Connection:

The FLDS is a controversial polygamist sect that splintered from the mainstream Latter-day Saints Church. It is led by Warren Jeffs, who is currently serving a life sentence for sexually assaulting young girls he married as child brides.

Roundy, who had a custody battle with her ex-husband for her three children, was awarded full custody in 2021, though her ex-husband, Nephi Fischer, has continued to fight for the children.

Help Needed:

  • Reward: A $5,000 reward is being offered by the Uvalde Foundation for Kids for information leading to Allen and Rachelle’s safe return.
  • Search efforts: The foundation is conducting a multistate search, canvassing neighborhoods and distributing flyers in areas where the teens were last seen or may have headed.
  • Contact Information: Anyone with information about their whereabouts should contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 208-745-9210.

The Impact on the Community:

This case highlights the deep psychological and emotional toll that abduction can have on families, especially when intertwined with powerful, controlling religious groups.

The Uvalde Foundation believes that the FLDS may have been involved in the psychological violence behind the teens’ disappearance.

As the search continues, the community and local law enforcement are hoping for the safe return of Allen and Rachelle. The situation remains tense, and the Fischer family is anxiously awaiting news of their children’s whereabouts.
