A young girl, described as a “miracle baby” by her grieving mother, tragically lost her life after being crushed by a falling tree during a severe thunderstorm in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Monday.
A Miracle Baby’s Life Cut Short
Rose Elizabeth Hendricks, 9, had already defied the odds after surviving two collapsed lungs at birth. Her mother, Jayme Denamur, described Rose as a fighter, surviving when doctors said she wouldn’t.
“She wasn’t supposed to make it during childbirth, she was born with collapsed lungs, and doctors told me she wasn’t going to make it,” Denamur recalled. “But she proved them wrong and lived to be nine.”
On Monday, Rose was standing outside her home when a neighbor’s tree, caught in powerful winds, uprooted and fell on her around 3:30 p.m.
Neighbors rushed to help, and firefighters used a car jack to lift the heavy tree off her, but it took almost 10 minutes to free her from the weight.
She was immediately rushed to a local hospital, but despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Rose succumbed to her injuries.
She suffered severe brain trauma, skull fractures, and internal injuries to her heart and lungs. “She fought until she couldn’t no more,” said her mother, struggling with grief.
The Grieving Family
The tragic incident has left the family heartbroken. Rose’s mother, who had just returned from a shopping trip, shared that the storm had worsened quickly, and the fall of the tree caught them completely off guard.
Rose’s brother, who narrowly avoided the tree, is deeply affected by the loss of his sister. “This morning he just begged and asked for his sister to come back,” Denamur said, speaking of the immense emotional toll on her family.

A Community Coming Together
In honor of her life, the family has launched a fundraiser to cover funeral expenses, which has raised nearly $17,500 in donations since Tuesday. The family also kept a portion of the tree that killed their daughter as a keepsake.
Her mother continues to cherish the memories of her brave and resilient daughter, who was always determined to live life to the fullest, despite the hardships she faced at birth.
