Perryville, Missouri –  A Missouri factory worker tragically lost his life after becoming trapped in an industrial oven at the Gilster Marylee Cereal Plant in Perryville on Thursday afternoon.

The Incident

The Perryville Police Department reported that Nicolas Lopez Gomez, 38, was found trapped inside an industrial oven at the cereal plant.

Authorities confirmed that the oven was not operational at the time of the incident. Emergency services responded promptly, but paramedics were unable to reach Gomez in time, and he was sadly declared dead at the scene.

Investigation and Circumstances

It is believed that Gomez, a Guatemalan national working under the alias “Edward Avila,” was cleaning the oven at the time of the accident.

According to police, Gomez was in the process of using a power washer on the machine from the outside. However, the exact circumstances of how he ended up trapped inside the oven remain unclear.

No foul play is suspected in the incident. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has opened an investigation to determine the exact cause of the tragic event.
