New York City, Greenwich Village – Two teenage girls were shot near the historic Stonewall Inn as NYC Pride celebrations came to a close on Sunday night, prompting shock and sadness in the community.

The shooting occurred in Sheridan Square around 10 p.m., just after the Pride festivities had ended. The victims, a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl, were struck by gunfire in the vicinity of the iconic LGBTQ+ bar.

The 16-year-old girl suffered a gunshot wound to the head and remains in critical condition, while the 17-year-old was shot in the leg and is currently in stable condition, according to a spokesperson from the NYPD.
